As the spring sun shines brightly and a cool breeze drifts through the air, the track and field season is officially underway. On Saturday, Woodland High School hosted "The Wood Invitational," welcoming an impressive lineup of 23 schools from across all divisions, ranging from Class A to AAAAA. With perfect weather and eager athletes ready to compete, the meet provided the first taste of competition for many teams this season.
The event was filled with high energy, fierce competition, and standout performances. The Girls’ team from Spring Valley took home the championship title, showcasing their depth and talent across multiple events. On the Boys’ side, Spartanburg High School emerged victorious, displaying exceptional speed, strength, and endurance.
Despite competing against larger schools, Woodland High School, a proud AA program, proved their tenacity and skill. The Wolverines finished a respectable 8th and 6th place. Their performance set the stage for an exciting season ahead.
For those who missed "The Wood Invitational," there will be plenty of opportunities to see Woodland’s athletes in action again. The school will host several more track and field events this season, providing fans with thrilling competitions right at home.
