Mrs. Denise Washington's 3rd grade class at Clay Hill Elementary School has a special new friend this year: BUG, their adopted cow from a local farm! 🐄 Each year, these students dive into the life cycle and animal growth by adopting a calf through Discover Dairy, learning with monthly data updates on their calf’s progress 📊✨ This program aligns perfectly with their learning standards and brings science to life in the classroom!

Yesterday, all the Assistant Principals from Dorchester District 4 (DD4) schools gathered for the first DD4 Assistant Principals’ Academy at Woodland Middle School. 🌟
Hosted by Dr. Sanders and Mr. Beckwith, the event provided an opportunity for collaboration, idea-sharing, and discussion of various scenarios that Assistant Principals may encounter in their roles. Dr. Sanders highlighted the resources available to each AP, while Mr. Beckwith emphasized the importance of providing training to prepare them for future principal positions. The attendees also enjoyed lunch, fostering a relaxed environment for conversation and networking. We're proud of our APs and excited for their continued growth! 💼🍎

As part of their culminating activity on self-esteem, Emma Blanchard and Jaiden Johnson shared a book they wrote with the first grade class. Meanwhile, Dwayne Blanden, Caleb Garrett, Zoee Middleton, Kemora Myers, Demetria Riley, Taniyah Rivers, and Haydon Strickland put on an amazing skit, reenacting the heartwarming story "Hooway for Wodney Wat." 🐭🎭

The Transition Night "A Career Affair" will be held on Tuesday, November 12th 2024 from 5pm-7pm at Woodland Middle School - DD4. There will be fun games, snacks and prizes to win! E-Learning Day
Dorchester School District 4 will utilize the Teacher Workday/Inclement Weather Day on October 11 as a weather make-up, E-Learning Day for students, as designated in the district's Instructional Calendar. This adjustment is necessary due to the postponement of the first day of school following the impacts of Tropical Storm Debby.
Fall Break
Dorchester School District 4 Schools and Offices will be closed from October 14th through October 16th for Fall Break. Students and staff will return on Thursday, October 17th.

After meeting with our safety team and local officials, Dorchester School District 4 will cancel all after-school activities today, Thursday, September 26th, and will move to an E-Learning Day on Friday, September 27th.
This decision was made based on the projected forecast of rain overnight in addition to sustained winds and potential wind gusts in the early morning hours from Hurricane Helene.
Schools will be reaching out with e-learning instructions.

At CHES there is a Wellness team. On this occasion, it was our first Wellness Team meeting. The Clay Hill Wellness Team tries to make sure our school is healthy and happy. This will make the school even better. In conclusion, the Clay Hill Wellness Team has lots of fun events planned this year to help students make healthy choices.
