Bio

My name is Kecia Simmons and I am so happy to be part of Clay Hill Elementary kindergarten team.  More importantly, I am THRILLED to be your child's teacher!  It's going to be a fun year filled with lots of learning and new adventures.  I want to know all about you, but first let me tell you a few things about me!

I graduated from Holly Hill-Roberts High School.  After high school, I attended South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, SC.  I received my Bachelor of Arts in Professional English with a concentration in Broadcast Journalism.  I thought I wanted to be a news anchor on television, but my passion was always to help children.  Keeping that in mind, I continued my education and earned a Masters of Arts in Teaching plus 30 hours in Early Childhood Education.

I have been teaching kindergarten for 17 years and I LOVE IT!  I began my teaching career in Orangeburg School District 3, I taught in Richland 1 and have been teaching in Dorchester 4 for the past 13 years.  I am so grateful for this opportunity to take hands, open minds and touch hearts everyday.

When I'm not teaching, I'm enjoying life with my husband, Raymond and our adorable son, Raymeire.  Raymeire is 6 years old and is in 1st grade.  We enjoy spending time with each other, shopping and traveling.

It's going to be a great year, our classroom is filled with love and lots of opportunities to learn and grow.
